Science dedicated to ecosystem health & community wellbeing
River Institute scientists listen to community concerns and bring together diverse expertise, resources, and partners to investigate local and regional challenges. Research priorities are focused on better understanding the current health and resilience of freshwater ecosystems and informing management approaches and conservation strategies. Our research provides pathways to careers in science, supports capacity development for partners, and engages community-based methodologies and the use of non- and minimally-invasive technologies. Data and findings help to increase community access to information, guide government policy, facilitate sustainable innovation, and advance scientific knowledge.
Ecosystem Health
Furthering integrated conservation efforts through holistic ecosystem health assessment and monitoring
Native Species
Advancing the recovery and protection of native species through population health monitoring, research, and habitat restoration
