The River Institute is an independent, registered charity that receives no core government funding. We rely entirely on our own fundraising and the generosity of donors to cover the costs of our programming.
Contributions from donors like you are vitally important to our work. Although we apply for project-based funding from government agencies and foundations to cover most of our expenses, your donation provides critical leverage and matching funds for these applications. It also provides us with flexibility to innovate and address local priorities that would not otherwise be funded.
As a Registered Charity (registration # 138852363 RR 0001) we are able to issue charitable tax receipts for all donations of $20 or more.

Ways to Give
Become an Annual or Monthly Donor
Become a River Champion! River Champions are individuals or organizations who contribute on a monthly or annual basis to the River Institute.
Donate Securities and Mutual Funds
A donation of securities or mutual funds is the most efficient way to give charitably. Since capital gains taxes don’t apply, the River Institute receives the full fair market value when the security is sold, and you get a tax receipt which reflects your larger contribution.
