Assessing the Effects of Environmental Stressors on Fish General Condition and Health

Surface sediments (top 10 cm) in some of the near shore areas of the Cornwall waterfront show concentrations of mercury, arsenic, cadmium, copper, nickel, lead, iron, zinc, PAHs and PHCs at concerning levels. This project aims to assess the sub-lethal effects of these contaminants on fish condition and health at the individual level. This information, combined with an assessment of biological integrity, will help ascertain that recovery at the population level is maintained within the St. Lawrence River (Cornwall) Area of Concern.
