The keen interest of our community for healthy fish populations sparked the idea of establishing the Fish Health Assessment Laboratory to strengthen the River Institute’s ability to support fish conservation and sustainability.

What we do: The Fish Health Assessment Laboratory has equipment and supplies to improve our ability to evaluate fish condition using morphological measurements and thorough health surveys. We also have a fish aging station to determine fish age and growth rates.

 

The research projects conducted by the Fish Health Assessment Laboratory focus on assessing the impacts of environmental stressors on fish overall condition, to support the sustainability of fish populations.
